传统音景旨在真实客观的记录时间中特定声音场域,“field recording”被作为记录和研究的对象早在服务于人类学研究前。实地录音、田野录音在当代的几十年间发展至此声音与记录之间、 对于“field recording”而言早已摆脱原先的轨迹、真实性与虚构不再具有某种界限、空间感或带有叙事性的声景作品是目前最为有意思的地方,也是音乐作曲表达的方式之一。那么记录的背后是什么?声音的背后又是什么?很高兴能在听阈的四期以工作坊的形式邀请到法国著名的前卫音乐作曲家 Emmanuel Mieville 来到成都他将同中国声音艺术家SunWei一起与大家分享他们的创作体验,并且展示作为他们各自音乐的重要的创作方式——田野录音的工作经验,工作坊之后他们将进行一场音乐会表演,除了个人solo他们将首此现场合作运用几天来在成都新鲜实地录制的素材混合制造一场纯粹的听觉盛宴。


Traditional soundscapes have aimed to realistically record a particular sound field. As such, field recording and research has had an enormous contribution to the study of anthropology. The development of contemporary field recording in recent decades has seen a divergence from this original objective, there are now no limits between authenticity and fiction, interest has developed around a sense of space and narrative and field recordings have become a form of expression in music composition. So what is behind the art of recording? What is behind the sound?

Audible Area Vol. 4 is pleased to invite accomplished French avant-garde music composer Emmanuel Mieville to Chengdu to share his experience in field recordings alongside Chinese sound artist SunWei in an evening of workshop and performance. In addition to their solo presentations, they will present a pure hybrid auditory feast of fresh Chengdu field recordings.

Emmanuel Mieville

Emmanuel Mieville 是出生于巴黎的作曲家,在电影学校学习过音响工程,并在 Groupe de Recherches Musicales 团体学过具体音乐 (musique concrète)。他的实验音乐和音景创作手法得益于他从孩提时代起就不断收听的创意广播节目。他在法国国家广播电台(法国文化广播电台和法国音乐广播 电台)进行过许多广播演出,他受雇在法国国家广播电台表演尺八、人声音乐和电子音乐。
他是 Framework 在 Resonance 调频这一平台上所进行之广播演出(有关实地录音)的客座作曲人。他花了两年时间演奏非欧洲乐器,如印尼的加麦兰等。对听觉感知的关注以及关于城市和野生环境的记忆使他得以创作出声场材料经叠加、混合,有时受声效影响的曲子。他的目的在于,描绘具体地点,并使其中模糊而奇特的情感穿透听众的耳朵,同时解释当地的建筑和地形,并构筑一种音乐实质,一种为对该地点一无所知的听众所构筑的具体实质。
他与 Eric Cordier、Guido Huebner、Benjamin Thigpen、Heesok Yu 等舞蹈家、摄影师、影像艺术家、即兴表演者和圈内音乐人合作表演过。Motus 和 Licences-Brulures des Langues(法国)在西班牙 (Confluencias) 和意大利(乌迪内作曲大赛决赛)的艺术节上表演过他的电声作品。他举办音乐会,也和马来西亚、香港、哥斯达黎加、台湾、巴黎 (Instants Chavirés) 的音乐人合作即兴表演。
他也是其他作曲人作品的演绎者,比如和创新的 laptop 团体 CLSI 合作演出 K.H Stockhausen 作品。他还在 Tibprod (与 Töre H.Boe 合作)、Xing Wu、Lona Records、 Baskaru 厂牌旗下发行过作品。

Emmanuel Mieville is a Paris born composer who studied in a cinema school in the sound engineer section, and learned musique concrète at the GRM. His approach to experimental music and soundscape composition was fueled by constant listening of creative radio programs since his childhood. He realised many radio shows for french national broadcasting(France-Culture and France-Musique), for example music for shakuhachi, voice and electronics. He is a guest composer for Framework’s field recordings based shows, on Resonance FM, produced by Patrick Mc Kinley. He practised ethnic instruments such as Javanese gamelan for two years in Paris.

His concern for aural perception, and memories engraved in urban and wildlife environements, yields compositions where soundfield materials are layered, mixed and sometimes transformed by effects. The portrayal of a specific location, with its blurred and erratic sonic emotions, reaching the ears, is what he aims, interpreting and composing the « concrete » substance to convey it to the listener.

He has had collaborations with Buto dancers, video artists and improvises with fellow musicians, such as Eric Cordier, Guido Huebner, Benjamin Thigpen, Heesok Yu, among others. His electroacoustic pieces have been played in festivals by Motus and Licences-Brulures des langues (France), in Spain (Confluencias), Italy (finalist of the Udine composition competiton). He performed concerts, and improvised with musicians in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, France, Germany. He is also interpret of other’s music: K.H. Stockhausen, with the CLSI, an innovative laptop group. He has released music on labels such as Tibprod (with Töre H.Boe), XingWu, Lona records, Obs, Crónica and Baskaru.

电子媒体声响、小剂量微音。从事声音和实地录音工作,以及观察环境中声波介质振动与环境关系。这些工作包括记录来自不同自然或人工流域水下声景,使用超声波设备观察记录日常生活中被忽略的声响。作为声音艺术家他广泛的被世界各地艺术机构邀请参与及出版各类声音项目,包括他所创作的声音装置受邀参加2013年在纽约等地举办的 Revolution Per Minute 中国当代声音艺术展、上海西岸2013建筑与当代艺术双年展,同时作为实验前卫声响和噪音音乐表演者也出现在各种先锋音乐和艺术活动的现场。

Sun Wei is an artist working in sound and field recording who is interested in exploring frequency hearing range and the relationship between sound vibrations and the environment. His works include ultrasonic recordings of nature, underwater frequencies and the background noise of everyday life. As a sound artist, Sun Wei has been invited to contribute many international sound projects around the world, including the UK, Germany, The Netherland, USA, Ireland and Australia.

About, audible area sounds workshop:
The human ear can feel the highest and lowest auditory stimulus intensity. In Chengdu from time to time a about listening, sound art, avant-garde music, improvised music, field recording, sound installations, workshop after experimental site to crossing borders to stimulate the possibility of different sound creation field exploration, by the sound artist SunWei initiated to the non profit music art project.
